Coton Sport: coach Gabriel to win three matches or get fired

By Nukapuh P.

The management of the elite one club, Coton Sport FC of Garoua has given Gabriel Haman, head coach of the club a daunting task, which is to win all three games ahead or lose his job.

The decision was arrived at during a crisis meeting on Monday at the club’s headquarters in Garoua, chaired by Fernand Sadou, president of Coton Sport.

The decision was taken in front of the players and staff of the club after the club produced poor results for the past one month by losing six straight games in all competitions.

The three do-or-die matches awaiting coach Gabriel include Coton Sport vs Egyptian warriors, Al Ahly on March 17 in the CAF champions league, Coton vs Djiko FC on March 21, and Canon Yaounde vs Coton on March 26 in the elite one championship.

The most difficult one of all is Coton Sport vs Al Ahly. The Egyptian warriors have defeated Coton Sport eight times. Gabriel will therefore be seeking the first victory over them.

The players were also promised huge extra bonuses if they defeat Al Ahly. So far, Coton is yet to win a match in the CAF champions league this season.

Even at the level of the elite one championship, Coton Sport has won just five out of thirteen matches played in the league this season.

Some supporters of the club have put the blames on the decision taken by the club to sell good players like Marou Souaibou and others.
