FECAHAND debunks rumours about suspension of women’s national handball team

The Cameroon Handball Federation has sent out a communique refuting claims that the women’s national handball team has been suspended.

On Wednesday, May 22, rumours were rapidly spread on social media, alleging that the handball team had been suspended for four years by the International Handball Federation (IHF). No specific reasons were given for the alleged suspension.

The handball federation in its communique said, the circulation of the “fake news” was masterminded by persons seeking to “tarnish” the image of the federation and to “interrupt” its activities.

“We categorically debunk this unfounded and irresponsible rumour” the handball governing body said.

“No suspension decision has been taken against our female national team by the IHF” the federation stated.

It said the International Handball Federation and the African Confederation of Handball, are jointly organizing the IHF Challenge Trophy for the U18 and U20 men’s categories in Yaounde, with Chad, Congo, Central African Republic, DR Congo, and Cameroon participating.
