Mindef says three soldiers arrested for killing civilians in North West

Defense ministry spokesperson Atonfack Cyrille has said that three men from the country’s security force have been disarmed, demobilized, and detained at the Mbengwi gendarmerie brigade in the North West region.

According to a communique from the ministry, the men who work with the Koutaba Airborne Troops Batallion(BTAP) are accused of killing two civilians in Nylbat-Andek village in Momo division on September 19, 2022.

The victims Abazie Suzanne, 49, and Etoh Bash ba Akutah , 47, were shot at close range during an invasion.

The defense ministry said the three will be prosecuted in competent courts after due investigations have been made.
