Mbanda: parents complain about paying teachers in government school

Parents in Mbanda, Sanaga Maritime division of the Littoral region, have joined their voices to express dissatisfaction over the abandonment of the Government Secondary School of their locality, GSS Bisseke.

They say the joy they had when the school was created, has turned to discontent. “The problem we have is lack of a site for our school. We have always asked for a place to build our school.”

“We started with two classes and today, here we are still begging for a site. This is bad for a government institution. We have complained to no avail,” said Albert Emmanuel, a parent. He indicated that the few classrooms were constructed by locals.

“Parents are now responsible for teachers’ salaries and construction of classes. Parents are practically in charge of everything,” Parent Teacher Association (PTA) President Samuel Ndjock said.

“We pleaded for this school to be given to us and after it was given, the authorities did not provide the site. Nothing is moving,” Samuel Ndjock added.

The population has said their children are studying in deplorable conditions and hope the government can come to their aid.
