World tourism day : discover Foumban museum

World tourism day 2022 is being observed this September 27 under the theme “Rethinking Tourism.”

It is with that in mind that we propose you discover one of Cameroon’s touristic attractions- the Foumban museum situated in the capital city of the Noun division.

In the town of Foumban, it is known by all that the museum is adjacent to the Royal palace of Foumban and its structure leaves many speechlesss at first sight. The museum is made up of two buildings. One of the buildings is a two-headed snake and it carries two storeys. The other building is a-four-storey constructed in the form of a spider.

According to the Architect, the snake building symbolizes the power and strength of the Bamoun people while the spider building depicts the wisdom of the people.

The inner part of the Museum has 3 reception halls of 40m² each, a 300m² multipurpose conference room, office space of 220m², a cyberspace and refreshment hall of 120m², a space for book and video libraries, an exhibition space of 900m², dressing rooms for workers and 21 toilets.

Out of the museum, we can find a leisure space, an 80m² storage space, a 2000m² space for relaxation and a parking lot that can contain up to 200 cars.

The Museum’s main doors are the mouths of the snakes which some visitors might find shocking at first but usually gradually ease in with time.
