Ngaoundere -Garoua road project suspended

Public works minister Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi has ordered that works on the Ngaoundere – Garoua stretch be suspended due to the fast degrading nature of the road.

Launched in 2020 the execution rate of the project stands at 73% two years after its start. The contractor Bernis S.A had earlier demanded that some technical readjustment be made given that the already tarred section of the road was rapidly degrading.

Minister Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi in collaboration with the labogenie construction company has opened investigations aimed at understanding why the road is fast degrading despite ongoing works. This decision was arrived at after the minister visited the site.

The construction of the Ngaoundere -Garoua road is estimated to cost some 2.6 billion FCFa
