Three Cameroonians Spend Over One Month in Pirate’s Captivity

On October 25, 2021, Six Pirates hijacked an American-owned, Montet TIDE, a tidewater vessel at 10 PM local time around 50 nm SW of southern Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea.

Three of the 14 onboard who were sleeping, were taken away. The 11 others had escaped to the base of the vessel when the Pirates arrived. The Offshore ship was en route from Punt Europa Terminal, Bioko Island, to Malongo, Angola before being attacked in the gold of Guinea.

“We had sent a distress signal to all networks in the world,” a survivor said.

Since October 25, 2021, the whereabouts of the three Cameroonians is unknown. The agent that recruited the three men, Nga Marine located in Douala and managed by a certain Gregory Alem, has not made a statement, someone close to the incident told CNA.
