FIFA 2026 WCQ: 3 Penalties, 22 shots on target and 9 goals for the elephants Against Seychelles

The elephants of Ivory Coast started their World qualification campaign in stunning fashion, demolishing Seychelles 9-0 with three penalties, 22 shots on target, and numerous corner kicks.

Sebastian Haller scored from the penalty spot to open the floodgates as Ibrahim Sangare, Simon Adingra, and Karim Konate added one goal each to make it 4-0 by halftime.

In the second half, Ivory Coast was awarded two more penalties and scored five more goals to completely dominate Seychelles.

Substitute Hamed Traore and teenage striker Karim Konate both scored twice in the match and threaten to do more, but Seychelles’ goalkeeper Carlos Simeon denied them from scoring more goals making 13 saves to hold the elephants at single digit.

Ivory Coast now sits at the top of their group with a significant lead in goal difference compared to Burundi and Gabon.

Ivory Coast will face Gambia on November 20th who lost 2-3 to the Swallows of Burundi.
