SOS: Family in Distress Following Vanishing of Two Members in Nigeria

By Hans Ngala
The Jato family is in distress following the disappearance of their two children in Nigeria. A source that is close to the family, spoke to CNA about the incident. Our source explained that Jato Mildred met a Nigerian man on Facebook back in 2022 and they fell in love. The said man identifies as Prophet Maurice Imoh. He travelled from Nigeria to come and meet Mildred’s family in Sabongari to make his intentions known but the family rejected him.
However, in 2022 Mildred wrote a letter and left it behind for her family and went to Nigeria after her man. Her family never heard from her nor saw her again. In 2024, as worried as the family was, her brother left to try and look for her and he too has vanished without a trace till today. The mother is in limbo, grieving the loss of her two children and not knowing whether they are dead or alive.
They are pleading on anyone with knowledge of Mildred or this “prophet” she went after, to kindly assist them.
Mildred studied at GBHS Kumbo in the NW and later at the University of Yaounde 1 and is a soft-spoken and calm girl, her family explained.
Nigeria has a reputation for kidnapping and human trafficking and it is unclear whether Mildred is dead or alive.
