Separatists burn military control post in Jakiri

It was the second time in one week that the checkpoint, erected by government forces, suffered attacks from Ambazonia separatists. The first attack saw the death of two members of Cameroon’s armed forces.

But the fighters under Bui Unity Warriors launched another ambush on September 14, 2022, setting the checkpoint at Veterinary junction, on fire.

“This is where they come and spend their time, we have set it on fire,” a voice said in a video shared on social media.

During the ambush, the government forces are said to have escaped by shooting in the air. Casualties could not be independently confirmed by the CNA newsroom.

Bamkikai market to close for 30 hours

The Separatists in Bui Division, North West region have said they are shutting down the Bamkikai market in Kumbo. According to a pro-Ambazonia media outlets, the “Bui Unity Warriors and Civilian Council of Kumbo North” said due to consistent attacks by government forces in Bamkikai and Romajai, they have decided to shut the market for 30 hours, slightly over a day.

Kumbo has been the theatre of operation after six separatists were killed last week. Their colleagues received their death with grief and decided to mount more pressure on government forces who have created several makeshift control posts to contain the separatists.

Since the arrival of the new commander of the fight miliatry region, General Bouba Dobenkreo, his focus has been to bring Bui under government control.
