Ndogbong Gendarmes arrest five suspected armed bandits

Elements of the Ndogbong Gendarmerie brigade in the Douala V sub-division have dismantled a gang of 5 suspected bandits with ages between 21 and 41. They were presented to the public on Tuesday September 27.

According to the Gendarmerie brigade commander, Mekoulou Akoa Bertin, they launched an operation to track them down following several complaints filed by the population. He added that the five suspects were operating in different neighbourhoods in Douala:

“In the course of our investigations, we apprehended the first suspect who helped us arrest four of his accomplices. They were in possession of a pistol and other deadly weapons. These suspects have been operating in Ndogbong, New Bell, New town aeroport and several other neighborhoods. They steal and sell arms” the Gendarme Commander said.

According to one of the suspects, it was only a first trial that failed:

“I have never sold a gun before. This is the first one I was planning to sell. Unfortunately we were arrested.”

All five of them are currently behind bars at the Ndogbong Gendarmerie brigade awaiting trial.

The commander of this Gendarmerie brigade urged the population to continue collaborating with the forces of law and order for their security.

At the time of their arrest they were in possession of arms and other deadly objects which they used to intimidate their victims.
