By Wilson Musa.

More than half a dozen civilians have been killed by Government forces, others injured while more than 20 houses have been set on fire in Bamenda, a correspondent has said.

Around 2PM on Wednesday December 8, 2021, an explosive went off around Mbengwi road, precisely between the Azire Old Church and Mbengwi Park. The explosive was detonated by Ambazonia forces, the ADF said they carried out the attack.

“The explosive was detonated around Kernel Mill and since then, the Government forces have been burning houses,” a civilian in pains said.

The attack on Government forces provoked a bitter reaction as they poured their anger on the innocent civilian population. Several persons were killed, some injured, others arrested, stores looted, houses set on fire.

“This place is not far from the general hospital… Also as I speak most people along that area are scared to go back home and some are even scared to enter their houses as they are standing out, in fear that they should not burn their houses with them inside,” another witness said.

“When the explosive went off, some young apprentices in w welding workshop wanted to escape but were shot by Government forces,” a witness narrated to CNA.

The number of military casualties in the explosion that provoked the killing remains unknown but sources say the armored car was seriously hit by the IED. Though the ADF has said they ambushed 7 Government forces.
