Tiko Subdivision: Accident leaves many dead

Several persons are believed to have died and others were injured in a road accident that occurred in Likomba, a popular neighborhood in the Tiko subdivision, in the South West region.

Early Thursday, December 14, 2023, a biker ran into two heavy-duty trucks parked beside the road, the biker died on the spot.

Angered by this, several of his colleagues and bystanders stormed the accident premises to hold the truck owner responsible. But as they were arguing, another car at high speed rammed several persons, killing one on the spot and injuring others.

“Two trucks got bad in front of the Camwater catchment center at Likumba, a bike rider rode under one of the trucks and died on the spot. Then his colleagues came and crowded the area. Another car came and unfortunately crushed a number of them. I carried 7 to the general hospital in Tiko,” a witness narrated.

Some of the victims were taken to the Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Mutengene.
