Carlos Kameni says not hanging gloves anytime soon

Idriss Carlos Kameni, 39, has said he does not plan to stop playing professional football, despite his age.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper has had a magnificent career with the Indomitable Lions and with clubs like Malaga and Espanyol.

His recent club was Andorran’s side, Santa Coloma.

During a talk on racism, organized by the Malaga Sports Press Association on Friday, in which he made remarks about his desire to keep playing, Kameni noted that “Physically I am fine and I train better than when I played”.

He indicated that he feels strong physically and mentally to enjoy his “passion”.

“I want to continue and allow the younger ones to think that, if I have arrived, they can arrive. I hope that in the coming days, they will be able to see me in the field” the Malaga-based Cameroon international said.

Kameni is one of the legendary goalkeepers that have played for the Cameroon national football team. He was part of the Olympic squad that won gold in Sydney in 2000.

He also represented the Indomitable Lions in the 2002 and 2010 World Cups. He has played six AFCONS with the national team, lifting the trophy in his first appearance in 2002.
