Bus driver who threw passenger out of Global voyage punished

Cameron’s Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe has suspended for three (3) months with possibility of renewal the categories B , C , D and E driver’s license No. NW – 163740 -14 , issued on 29 May 2019 in Bafoussam of Mr Moussa Babadji , born on August 20, 1987 in Bafoussam .

According to the Minister of Transport, on the night of June 10 to 11, 2022, on board the bus registered LT 885 1J, belonging to Global Voyages inter-urban transport agency, which was going to Bafoussam, a scuffle erupted between the bus driver, Mr Moussa Babadji and one of the passengers.

Amateur videos which went viral on social media showed the passenger being brutalized and taken off the bus after he complained about the drive constantly stopping on the way to pick up passengers especially at night. These passengers were not recognized by the agency as they normaally would be via the purchase of a ticket at the counter and so were a possible threat to the people on board.

“It should be recalled that the specifications handbook of inter urban road transport agencies in its Article 4 paragraph 4 indicates that boarding and dropping of passengers is done exclusively in their agencies and in compliance with Law No. 2001.015 of 23 July 2001 governing road transport professions and road transport auxiliaries, Illegal boarding is prohibited”. Explained the Transport Minister after findings.

Given the gravity of the events and in compliance with the regulations in force , the Minister has decided to suspend Moussa Babadji for three months.

Minister Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe noted in a release that, on October 25, 2019, a similar incident of illegal boarding resulted in the assault and robbery by unidentified individuals on the bus registered LY 411 HC belonging to BINAM Voyages inter-urban transport agency on the Yaounde-Obala highway.

He calls on all road users to systematically denounce such unprofessional behaviour displayed by some drivers by contacting the ministry.
