4 ASMAC students among winners of UNESCO competition in France

Four students from the Advanced School of Mass Communications, ASMAC, Yaounde have emerged third price winners of a UNESCO competition, “AI Challenge” in the best documentary on artificial intelligence (AI) organized by the University of Bordeaux -Montaigne in France.

This second edition of the competition which brought together 13 teams from 10 African countries encouraged young competitors to submit a documentary of not more than 7 minutes on Smart Solutions in AI.

The four students from the journalism and communication departments at ASMAC, Boris Landry Kouekam, Michelle Ticky, Bernadette Kafka, and Diana Ornella Eyango submitted a short film entitled “Artificial intelligence: Cameroon connects”.

Alice Nga Minkala, the Director of the institution, on March 28th congratulated the four students for representing the institution in an honorable manner.
“The team has increased the prestige of this institution…I encourage other students to follow this example,” she stated.

The theme of this edition was “Artificial intelligence (AI) at home”.

The eight members of the jury, including CRTV journalist Evelyne Owona, evaluated the 13 competing projects on several criteria including script, creativity, technical quality, interest in the subject and relevance among others.
