Tension In Bangem, Administrative Authorities Held By Gunmen
Bangem, Cameroon-Monday January 29, 2018 -11:49 AM Local Time (Cameroon News Agency) Some Senior administrators in Kupe Muanenguba division’s head quarter, Bangem in the South West region, have reportedly been held hostage by some armed men called Tigers of Ambazonia, around the Bangem market, CNA has gathered.
CNA correspondent reports that, they were taken by surprise and told to kneel alongside some security officers who accompanied them.
CNA has not been able to gather where the administrators were heading to or whether they were taken from their offices.
Concordant reports say guns and cars have been seized from the administrators and security men. We cannot confirm allegations that the administrators have been asked to kneel in mud.
The administrators according to a source were later released.
Reports have it that the group which held hostage the SDO and his subordinates is called Kupe-Muanenguba One Touch.
Meantime, a source close to the administrator has disclosed that the situation was not that serious, that the men came with sticks forcing students out of classes at the Government High School. The source recounts that when the SDO, DO and others heard the news, they immediately descended on the site of the incident and tried to negotiate for things to return to normalcy.
