Yaounde: remains of business man found 3 months after disappearance
The remains of Hassan Souaibou, a business man specialized in currency exchange in Yaounde, have been been found in a very advanced state of decomposition.
According to his wife, Naima, he left the house last July 6th saying he had a business meeting but never returned. He was reported missing 24 hours after and it is only this September 26 that his remains were found in Mbankomo on the national number 3 road by a woman who had gone farming:
“I was going to the farm as usual when I saw a bag. I looked and saw something round. I thought it was a ball but then, there were other things on it. I called a neighbour who told me it was a human head. Walking further, we both saw the other parts of the body” the farmer explained.
Forces of law and order were alerted and on site, they found documents which helped them identify the corpse as that of 33-year-old Hassan. His family was quickly informed:
“They called from the gendarmerie saying they found my husband’s corpse. I asked to see because I thought they were mistaken… but they told me the body is decaying and only identification documents could be retrieved” Naima, Hassan’s wife explained.
Hassan’s family and neighbours in the Briqueterie neighborhood are in pain over this loss and the body has been burried at the Mbankomo cemetery.
Investigations are ongoing.
