Yaounde: many arrested for allerged drug trafficking

65 persons are being detained at the Melen gendarmerie unit in Yaounde while 15 others have been charged with drug trafficking and consumption.

These individuals who were before competent judicial authorities this August 1st were arrested last July 29 2022 during a security operation championed by elements of the Melen gendarmerie in the Melen and Ngoa-Ekelle neighbourhoods.

27 motorbikes and 20 vehicles without identification papers were also impounded.

This operation according to forces of law and order, is aimed at maintaining safety in these areas where the population has been denouncing high crime waves.
