Woman arrested in Bertoua, 8 months after allegedly killing nephew
Police in Bertoua, East region are investigating a murder case concerning a woman identidied as Salamatou. The suspect has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the death of her 12 year old nephew.
Sources say the brother’s son was involved in a kidnapping case planned by Salamatou. She had ho9ed to get the sum of FCFA 15 million but the events turned out sour in the say of ransom. In the course of the operation, the 12 year old recognised her Aunty. Salamatou wasted no time to eliminate her nephew.
On December 8, 2021, the father of the boy whose name has not been disclosed reported the kidnap of his son to the police after receiving a call from kidnappers. The sum of FCFA 15 million was demanded but the father could not pay. Days later, his son’s body was found lifeless, dumped in a well.
Gendarmes launched an operation and Salamatou, the main suspect was caught this August 2022 in Bafoussam in the West region.
