Veteran Nigerian comic actor, Mr Ibu, gets leg amputated again

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, said the ailing comic actor known for his funny roles in movies, suffered another amputation on his leg.

Mr. Ibu’s leg was amputated in November to “keep him alive” but recent reports say Doctors carried out another amputation on the same leg.

News of the the new amputation was misinterpreted with many saying his two legs had been taken off. But his son, Valentine Okafor, clarified the situation.

He stated that the first amputation did not improve his health, hence they had to carry out another one on the same leg. He also disclosed that Mr Ibu is suffering from Diseased blood vessels, where blood has clotted in his leg thereby stopping the smooth flow of blood in his system.

Valentine Okafor also noted that they have not flown Mr. Ibu abroad for medical care because Doctors have warned that his case cannot support such a flight.

In October 2023, Nigerian celebrities rallied to support ailing comedian, Mr Ibu with millions of donations but his health is yet to relieve his family, fans, and supporters.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, via the president, Emeka Rollas, said the cases of veteran Actors falling ill and having little support is a terrible situation that no actor deserves. He used the opportunity to call on other Actors to subscribe to Insurance policies that can help them.
