Glencore gate: Former SONARA GM denies signing contract with Glencore

From the Yaounde main prison, Charles Metouck pens down a two page document exenorating himself from allegations of bribery.

Ten says ago, commodity trading company, Glencore, revealed that they paid bribes worth FCFA 7 billion to Cameroon Oil Refining company, SONARA and the depot company SNH.

Mr Metouck who was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in 2015, said he bring targeted but his enemies because since his stay as GM, he has never had a direct contact with Glencore company to talk about bribes.

Since 2013, Charles Metouck is in jail over mismanagement scandal.

In this document, Metouck says he has never been found wanting in corruption and bribery both by Fako High Court and in Yaounde.

Glencore lawyers said the company was obliged to pay the amount to avoid government administrative bottlenecks and the hiccups in the entire administration.
