Bamboutos players boycott training, demand 2 months salary

By Stephen TADAHA

Players of Bamboutos FC of Mbouda are on a sit-down strike just days to their match against YAFOOT scheduled for Sunday February 19 and which will count for their second game in the return leg of the league one championship.

The Mangwa Boys, led by Captain Junior Brandon Ndjoufack say they have not received their salaries for the past two months. They are current leaders of group B with a 2-point gap between them and second ranked Fovu of Baham.

The Boys of Ina Ngassa almost boycotted the grassfield derby they lost to YOSA 1-2 on Match day 12. The team on that match day, was already divided, giving the coach no choice than put in players who were available.

Immediately after the encounter against YOSA, the management of the team held talks with the players and promised things would change as soon as possible – and this is still not the case today. Reason why on Thursday February 16, the team decided to boycott another training session.

In an outing by the management staff in response to the current crisis tearing the team, we learn that the salaries depend exclusively on FECAFOOT’S subventions that are being awaited.

” It is important for fans and sympathisers of the Mangwa Boys to note that the administration has fulfilled her contract, that is match bonuses and other bonuses,” says Dechateau Kamdoum, member of the management staff.

“Salaries depend on subventions from FECAFOOT and the subventions have not yet reached us. This situation is really a hindrance to the objectives we fixed at the start of the football season,” he adds.

At the start of the football season, the team recorded its best ever season start with 5 victories in a row, followed by 5 consecutive draws. The team is now entering a new performance crisis era after it suffered its first defeat of the season against YOSA.

Many fear the team’s defeat streak might continue this Sunday as they welcome 5th ranked YAFOOT.
