South African pupil applies for ID card, receives death certificate instead

While youth in South Africa are celebrating youth day today, another young person in that country was baffled to learn that he had “died of natural causes”.
According to Sowetan Live newspaper, the pupil from KwaZulu Natal province had applied for his ID several weeks earlier, but when he went to collect it in March this year, he realized he had just collected his own death certificate.
The un-named learner’s teacher was very concerned and took to social media where she posted a picture of the death certificate which stated that the schoolboy had “died of natural causes” on the 1st of February 2022.
The teacher made the post on June 15 after South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs had not been very cooperative in addressing the matter which the teacher said had left her student very traumatized and unable to concentrate on his studies.
