Senatorial Elections: National and international observers called upon to maintain objectivity

The Chief Electoral Officer of ELECAM, Erik Essousse has urged national and international observers for the Senatorial elections come March 12th, 2023 to maintain objectivity and professionalism during the process.
He was speaking during a brief session organized on March 9th in Yaounde.
Erik Essousse laid out some recommendations that the observers are required to respect in the course of their work.
He indicated that all observers must respect the sovereignty of Cameroon and the national legislation in force.
He called on them to show impartiality in their work, especially when reporting what they have seen. He urged them to be responsible before, during, and after the voting process.
He also stated that public order will be guaranteed as well as the security of voters, electoral equipment, polling station, and staff, and special attention will be paid to the North West, South West, and Far North regions.
On March 12, 2023, the Senatorial elections will be convened in the country.
Out of the 32 lists submitted by 13 political parties, 22 were eligible to run for the elections after being accepted by the electoral board of ELECAM.
Ten files were however rejected for not fulfilling the recommendations of the electoral code.
The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement CPDM reports reveal is the only political party running in all ten regions of Cameroon. The different parties in the other regions are as follows; Adamawa region: CPDM, UNDP, the Centre region: CPDM, FDC, East region CPDM, UNDP, Far North: ANDP, CPDM, UNDP, MDR, Littoral: CPDM, PCRN, North region: FSNC CPDM UNDP, North West: CPDM, SDF, West region: CPDM, UDC, UMS, South region: CPDM And South West region only the CPDM.
