Santchou: Police arrest men specialize in theft of bikes

Elements of the Santchou Public Security Police Station in the West region have finally laid hands on five suspected motorcycle thieves they have been tracking since a year ago.

” It’s since 2022 that we received numerous complaints from people of the theft of their motorbikes. Since we opened investigations, we were not able to apprehend the criminals. Now we have succeeded to arrest them, one year after.” Said Dalle Conrad Ngoundo, the Santchou Public Security Commissioner.

The five suspects were presented to the public on Wednesday alongside some motorbikes and spare parts in their possession by the time of their arrest.

Their activity was brought to its dead end after their last operation the La Falaise de Dschang where a man suffered a breakdown and decided to allow the bike there to get a mechanic from Santchou.

” I allowed my bike at La Falaise to hire a mechanic in Santchou. To my greatest surprise, I could not find it again. I went back to Santchou and filed a complaint with the Public Security Police.

Investigations intensified immediately after the complaint was tabled. Thanks to the said complaint, the suspects were nabbed.

“Indeed it was that last operation that made us understand the modus operandi of the bike thieves. Once a bike is stolen, they dive with it into the bush where they dismantle its parts. Once this is done, they now sell the parts in the black market and generate income.” The Commissioner narrated.

The D.O of Santchou, Jean Louis Ntouh Ntouh who was also present at the time of their presentation to the public expressed delight and reminded the population to endeavor to denounce criminals or suspects so that they are arrested so everyone to have a good sleep at night.
