Public works minister says road construction in NW/SW a priority in 2023
Part of the F CFA 528,658 billion budget destined to the ministry of public works will be used for the reconstruction of the crisis-hit regions including the 280km Ring Road.
The declaration was made by Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi this November 30th as he defended his ministry’s budget for the 2023 financial year before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly.
Other projects include the 179.28 km Ebolowa – Akom II- Kribi section, the 70km Olounou – Oveng Road, the 39km Lolabe-Campo express road, the 93km Bogo-Pouss section, 145km Febadi – Beka-Goto-Lewa-Likok section, the bridge over the Nyong River in Malombo, the Yaoundé Northern Exit bypass, the Nkometou-Carrefour Ekabita Mendoum-Carrefour Ezezan-Carrefour Katanga (Nyom 2)-Carrefour Yegassi-Carrefour Nkolodom-Carrefour Nambeyala-Carrefour Febe Village (17.60 km), and the acceleration of the preparation of major second generation projects.
During the defense session, the Minister used the opportunity to assess works done during the 2022 financial year. The asphalting of the 74km Nsangmelima – Mengong stretch, the 45km Grand Zambi – Kribi, the 60km Maroua-Mora, the 167.3 km Lena-Tibatti-Ngatt as well as the recent 3.5km Obala inter-change this year, are some of the works carried out this year.
According to the ministry of Public Works, intervention priorities for the 2023 financial year are aimed at boosting road maintenance and accelerating the implementation of the new earth road maintenance strategy to avoid road cuts and continue the asphalting of feeder and access roads to promote the growth of local production.
