I Planned No Rally In Ebolowa – Barrister Akere Muna

By MEFO TAKAMBOU

Yaoundé, Cameroon-Friday November 24, 2017-11:00 AM Local Time (Cameroon News Agency) The coordinator of the NOW Movement has said his team filed no application for the holding of a public meeting in Ebolowa 2 Sub Division, South Region of Cameroon.

A statement signed by the Communication Officer of NOW! Steve Amara, rejects social media reports that a request for public meeting by Sam Severin Ango(part of the Now Movement team) was banned by Ta Bertrand, the Divisional Officer of Ebolowa 2.

Now! specifies that it not a political party, but a non partisan movement which aims at Assembling youths for the foundation of a new republic that will bring change in Cameroon.
But the outing of Barrister Akere Muna contradicts an order signed November 23rd by the DO for Ebolowa 2, Ta Bertrand.

The Civil Administrator stated that a planned meeting between Friday November 24 to Saturday 25 by the movement has been prohibited due to failure by organizers to notify the administration on time.

Ban Letter by Ebolowa 2 DO

It is not known whether the DO’s outing was in anticipation but this is not the first time the opposition in Cameroon is banned from exercising the right to public manifestation. The SDF party in the Littoral Region has suffered a similar fate in Douala 1 and 5 this 2017.
