Words of consolation were dispatched on April 22 from the seat of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon’s headquarters on the holy hills of the Synod Office in Buea. Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia extended words of comfort and assurance to those of Roman Catholic beliefs whom he termed “brothers and sisters”.

“May the God of all comfort be your strength and may his peace guard your hearts in this time of sorrow,” Moderator Miki prayed. While urging the Catholic faithful to remain hopeful in the Easter message and its meaning at this time of grief.

“We are comforted by the words of the psalmist which says; Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints,” he sustained. The prelate further recalled that the news of the Pontiff’s demise was received with remorse. The PCC Moderator eulogised Pope Francis as “a faithful, devoted shepherd and servant of God.”

Moving on, he established that the fallen Bishop of Rome, “led the church with humility, with wisdom and a compassionate heart that reached far beyond the Roman Catholic fold.”

Moderator Miki reconciled Francis’ commitment to justice, peace, and the dignity of every human being to have left a lasting legacy not only for Christendom but the world at large.

To the PCC chief cleric, the life of the Roman Pontiff exemplified Christian virtues. He hoped that it would inspire many to walk faithfully with Jesus till they, like Pope Francis, were transited.
