PCC elites give 15 points for election overhaul, resignation of Moderator

Atleast fifteen points were put forth in a letter addressed to Moderator Fonki Samuel which CNA has seen. The fifteen influential members of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC), who had “served the PCC for many years”, statedwhy they feel the PCC Moderator should resign and the electoral process overhauled.

The October 2 letter, ten days to the holding of presbytery meetings to nominate candidates for the post of Moderator and Synod Clerk. Bar. Nico Halle, Nkom Ngwanyalla, Epie Ngome Victor, Senator Matute and others frowned at the Fonki regime which they said is “arrogant, unaccountable, opaque, and worldly”.

Moreso, they alleged that the outgoing Moderator, Rt. Rev. Dr Fonki Samuel Forba was infringing into the electoral process through a list of nominees he was imposing on pastors. The Presbyterian elites regretted that, pastors “have been victimized through punitive deployment, just for daring to express an opinion different from yours(moderator)”.

It is on these premises that the letter urged Moderator Fonki to resign and “save what is left”. Preceding audit by an external body. They also called for a complete overhaul of the electoral process.

An official response has not been given to the accusations or 72 hour ultimatum yet. However, insight sources have hinted that the warnings are taken with a pinch of salt and the electoral process shall unfold as planned. Culminating in a grand synod elections from November 13-15, 2024.
