The Paorts Authority of Douala, has won the final legal battle against business magnet, Vincent Bollore.
The General Manager of the Port Authority of Douala, PAD, Cyriou Ngo, disclosed that the First Civil Chamber of the French Court of Cassation on June 19, 2024, dismissed the appeal lodged by Douala International Terminal (DIT) against the decision of the Paris Court of Appeal dated 10 January 2023. The DIt is controlled by Bollore company.

“This ruling sets aside, on the grounds of irregular composition of the arbitration tribunal, the arbitration award made on 10 November 2020 under the aegis of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) of Paris, which ordered PAD to pay the sum of 58.6 million Euro as compensation for the “damages” resulting from the alleged loss of opportunity in the call for tenders relating to the renewal of the concession agreement for the Port of Douala-Bonabéri container terminal with effect from 1 January 2020.” Cyrius Ngo explained.

The General Manager said they were pleased with the decision “which puts an end to all speculations about the operation of the container terminal, and enables it to resolutely pursue the collection of its share of the parking penalties wrongly withheld by DIT S.A.”
