The maiden edition of the North West Media Forum has concluded with the presentation of trophies and prizes to outstanding and credible journalists in the region. The two-day event, held in Bamenda from January 15 to 16, was officially closed by the Governor of the North West, Adolphe Lele Lafrique.
Also present at the closing ceremony were: the representative of the Minister of Communication, Njike Celestine, who doubles as the Regional Delegate of Communication for the North West, Senator Regina Mundi, one of the sponsors of an award, and the Mayor of Bamenda II, who represented Minister Felix Mbayu, another award sponsor.
In his closing remarks, Governor Adolphe Lele congratulated CAMASEJ Bamenda for organizing what he described as an innovative and timely forum. He pledged the administration’s full support for the initiative and welcomed the promotion of solutions journalism as a constructive approach to addressing community issues.
Held under the theme”Reviving the Media: Reclaiming dignity, rebuilding journalism, renewing hope,” discussions during the forum focused on improving working conditions, defending press freedom, promoting responsible reporting in a conflict-affected region, and exploring a collective social security framework for journalists.
The Governor praised the initiative of the North West CAMASEJ chapter president, Sah Terence, and hoped that the Forum had come to stay.
