Ngaoundere in panic after four detainees escape prison

The men are actively wanted following a public announcement of the registrar of the Ngaoundere central prison in the Adamawa region.

Mbaiguem Bruno, sentenced on February 25th 2022 for theft and non-possession of national identity card had to serve a 30-month jail term and be freed in August 2025.
Gabriel Tchamaya a farmer sentenced to 8 years in prison on June 16th 2022 for kidnapping and violence, had to be freed in May 2028.
Abdoul Bagui Bia, a driver sentenced on two counts for theft and complicity in theft was serving a four-year jail term and Cheick Mohamed was charged with theft and non-possession of a national identity card and sentenced in September and November 2021.

The four men, jumped over the prison fence at 3AM on August 22nd 2022 with a rope made from bedsheets to an unknown destination. While security forces are on a manhunt mission, a wanted notice of these detainees have been posted in major roads of Ngaoundere.

The Ngaoundere prison was built in the 1920s with a 500-inmate capacit but now hosts over 1500 detainees.
