By NFOR Hanson NCHANJI

BAMENDA, Cameroon-Wednesday May 2, 2018-2:00 PM Local Time (Cameroon News Agency) The main organizer of the Miss University of Bamenda Beauty Contest, Prisco Diko, has refuted allegations, the event to elect the 2018 Miss University of Bamenda, UBa is being used to extort money from voters by asking them to pay through mobile money before selecting their candidates.

In a telephone interview with CNA early Wednesday, the representative of Shosa Empire Cameroun said the outburst on Social Media is out of place because they have never asked people to pay money before voting Miss University of Bamenda. He said, “Those who are saying that we are collecting money for Miss UBa are completely ignorant of what we are doing. We are not asking a dime from anybody to vote Miss UBa, only Judges and the crowd based on what the candidates will offer, are going to vote and the winner will be declared before everyone. Miss UBa will be known on the 18 of May 2018.”

Asked why on the website of the Shosa Empire, a contact is provided for voters to pay before voting, Prisco said, “What we are asking voters to pay for is Miss Popularity, whose crown will be given on the same date, May 18, 2018. The Miss Popularity is aimed at reaching out to the needy in the society and that will be the role of the person who will be elected on that day. The money acquired from the voting will be used for the outdoor events.”
