Man accused of working with Separatists released

The Mobile Money operator in Ndu, Israel Giyo, who is also a big fan of Chelsea, has been released.

Israel was arrested in October 2022 for allegedly working as a financial middleman between Separatists and their donors. “They said he was working with the Ambas and receiving money from the USA and giving to Amba,” someone with knowledge of the arrest told CNA.

He was first locked up at the Ndu Gendarmerie brigade before his transfer to the Bamenda central prison.

On December 15, 2023, he was discharged and acquitted.
