GCE exams: NW teachers say they were underpaid
A group of 12 teachers working in the cris hit North West region say they were underpaid for invigilation and writing materials during the 2022 examination session.
In a letter the group of 12 writes to the registrar of the Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board, the teachers say the new rules allocate 15 candidates per invigilator for paper 1 and 30 per invigilator for papers 2 and 3. The teachers say although they followed the rules, they were underpaid for the work done.
The teachers add that dues for specialized writing material for Technical and Vocational Education Examination and the Advanced Technical and Vocational Education Examination were not paid as they normally should be. This, they say, is an injustice and call on the registrar to calculate their rightful dues and pay to them.
The North West region, just like the South West have been affected by the socio-political crisis with teachers attacked and even murdered alongside students. This ha smade the teaching profession a very risky one in these regions.
