GCE board registrar dies at 64

The Cameroon General Certificate of Education, GCE Board Registrar, Dang Akuh Dominic, is no more.

He died on Monday, September 25, 2023, CNA confirmed from a source who was present at the hospital.

The source revealed that he died at the Mount Mary Hospital in Buea after a brief illness.

The 64-year-old was appointed as Registrar of the GCE Board by Ministerial decree on January 31, 2018. He took over from Monono Ekema Humphrey who had been in office since 2006.

Before his appointment, he was Inspector General in charge of Bilingualism in the Ministry of Secondary Education since 2013.

Dang Dominic who hailed from Befang in the Menchum Division of the North West Region, began working with the Ministry of Secondary Education in 1982.

Besides being an astute educationist, the late Dang Dominic was also a GCE marker, organizer, and examiner.

As Registrar, Dang Akuh is said to have remained purely methodic, accommodating, and firm in administering the GCE Board.

He was praised by many for maintaining the standards of the GCE exams despite the crisis rocking the two English-speaking regions of the country.
