Francois Modzom new ASMAC Director

Cameroon’s pioneer journalism school, the Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC) in Yaounde, has a new Director.

Professor Francois Marc Modzom, veteran radio journalist, was appointed following a presidential decree on Tuesday, July 4.

The editorialist, a product of the much revered institution, was part of the 1984-1987 batch. His appointment comes two years after his predecessor, Alice Nga Minkala (now on retiremnt) took charge.

Before Professor Francois Modzom’s appointment, he served as the Central Director of Radio at the state broadcaster, the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV). He had also occupied the position of Director at CRTV’s Institute for the Preservation of Audiovisual Heritage (IFCPA) from 2015 to 2021.

He now occupies a chair once occupied by the likes of Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo now Minister of Higher Education, as well as Charles Boyomo Assala who was recently appointed Senator.

“I’m very happy and grateful for this opportunity which I am being given to train the young generation,” the 7th ASMAC Director said while talking to the press this July 4th.

The Advanced School of Mass Communication was created in 1970, and has produced thousands of media professionals through its Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate cycles.
