FIFA on Friday, 28 April 2017, announced the lifting of the suspension of the Mali Football Federation (FEMAFOOT).

Mali was due to be replaced by Ethiopia if the suspension, which came into effect on 17 May 2017, continued beyond 30 April 2017.

A letter dated 28 April 2017 and signed by FIFA General Secretary, Fatma Samoura confirmed the decision taken by Bureau of the FIFA Council, following the reinstatement of the FEMAFOOT Executive Committee.
