Electricity and water supply companies to go on strike

The information is contained in a letter written by the national president of the Cameroon Electricity and Water association of companies, and addressed to the Director General of ENEO.

They say Friday May the 27th is the day scheduled for the strike action to begin if their demands are not met.

The workers complain of unpaid salaries for a period going from 2015 to 2020 and worth over F CFA 5 billion as well as arbitrary suspension of workers by authorities. The reduction of their dues in spite of current high cost of living and inflation is also mentioned. The non – respect of the promises made during the reconciliation meeting of September 24 2020 is also mentioned.

In the concluding paragraphs the workers say they are aware of the drastic consequences this strike action will have on the population and have notified the Minister of water and energy so that preventive measures can be taken.
