Edea: Inhabitants lament over absence of social amenities

The population of Edea I in the Sanaga Maritime division of the Littoral region say their names have been written in the register of suffering by local administrative authorities who they say, have failed to provide them with basic social amenities. These include good passable roads, drainage channels, a befitting hospital and steady energy supply.

As concerns the poor road stretch linking different localities, the locals say this has made life unbearable for them and has led to high transportation cost.

Locals say they are usually victims of accidents on the road whose state is simply deplorable especially during the rainy season.

“I lost a sick relative on the way to the hospital because of the bad state of this Edea I road” a local said.

Drivers and motorbike riders also complain of frequent breakdowns and accidents.

“It is because of the slippery state of this road that we are victims of accidents”.

“Those of us with small and low vehicles can almost not pass on this road. The breakdowns are inevitable and so we often visit the garage and pay huge sums for our vehicles to be repaired. People should wake up from slumber and do their job rightly” complained a bike rider and driver respectively.

Inhabitants believe if authorities start working adequately, better roads will be constructed, hospitals built, portable water provided and electricity supply wcould be stable.
