Douala: Man accused of poisoning his children
The event is reported to have taken place in the PK8 neighborhood in Douala, economic capital of Cameroon. Inhabitants explain that the man briefly returned home from work and handed a bottle of soda to his 6 year-old daughter and quickly went back to work where he says he spent the night.
The little girl and her younger brother are said to have consumed the drink almost immediately. A little while later, both children complained of malaise and the baby girl passed away at home while her brother was rushed to the emergency unit of a nearby hospital where he is currently on oxygen.
Elements of the national gendarmerie were quickly called and upon arrival, the father of the children was taken to the Logbaba morgue where the remains of the little girl were deposited pending an autopsy. The man was equally taken to the brigade for questioning. The mother of the children says just a month ago, they lost a child in unclear circumstances and this is therefore the second time this is occurring.
