Domestic violence: Man deforms wife’s face with punches in Douala

A woman, reported to be the mother of four children is under intense medical care in a clinic in Bonamoussadi in the Douala 5 sub-division, Littoral region.

She is a victim of domestic violence inflicted by her husband early Tuesday, September 5, 2023, due to a misunderstanding.

Sources disclosed the said man called Ngouadjio transformed his wife into a punching bag for a very long period of time now.

“She has no rest in her marital home. The man beats her almost on a daily basis. It came to a point that the wife could no longer step out of her home for her meetings and appointments.” A source hinted.

Another source who presented herself to be a member of a human rights group said Nguouadjio justified his action by alleging that his wife bit his fingers, but the rights advocate said it was a blatant lie.

“He said the wife bit his finger, the reason he pounced on her. I say it is a fatal lie. His wife told me she has been passing through hell for months now at the hands of her husband who has become a beast. She decided to stay calm, submissive, and tolerant with the hope her husband would one day become human again. Though he beats her every day, she has never retaliated.” The source narrated.

CNA also learned that Ngouadjio threw his wife’s belongings out of the house because she went to treat herself in the clinic where he works in Bonamoussadi.

An association defending the rights of women and the girl child, has planned to dialogue with the alleged abuser.

It is however not clear if the man will be brought before the law for his barbaric act.
