COVID-19: German Cooperation donates consignment of sanitary supplies, equipment to Cameroon

The consignment of sanitary supplies and equipment which consists of 300 telephones, 39 tablets, 120 computers, 97 modems, and 300 glucometers among others was handed over to the Ministry of public health on September 29th in Yaoundé.
The grants which were acquired through funding from the German society for international funding, GIZ has as aim to support the COVID-19 preparedness and response device and for health emergencies.
According to the WHO representative, the continuous strengthening of the health system and response capacity will allow the country to address emergencies of all kinds. The WHO also presented to them some 20 oxygen concentrators, and 3000 examination gloves among other things which were received from their partners.
Speaking during the reception, the Minister of public health, Manaouda Malachie expressed his gratitude to the WHO and GIZ for their continuous support in the fight against Covid 19 in the country.
According to statistics from the Emergency Operations Center, at least 1,935 persons are reported to have died since the outbreak of the virus in the country with over 118,618 recoveries. 11.2% of the country’s target population are said to have received at least one dose of the virus.
