Douala: Man, 26, allegedly kills two brothers

A 26-year-old man called Atonfac was detained at the Mabanda Gendarmerie Brigade in Bonaberi Douala IV subdivision for allegedly killing his two siblings by strangulation on the night of Saturday, September 2 breaking Sunday, September 3. 2023.

” He explained to gendarmes that he locked the door, switched off the lights, and strangulated his junior brothers to death, that is Zeula Lens and Asong Shenley, 6 and 9 years old. He gave no reason to justify his act, saying it just occurred to him like that. ” Father of the children recounted.

CNA also gathered that Atonfack had no misunderstanding with anyone that could have prompted him to kill his brothers.

” He had no misunderstanding or quarrel with anybody, just for the fact that he behaves strangely at times. I was actually paying his school fees. He graduated from the University of Dschang two years ago and has been living in Douala during holidays,” the father furthered.

The bodies of the two kids were deposited in the mortuary pending burial. According to their father, an investigation was ongoing to shed more light on the incident, and only after the findings by forces of law and order, that burial would take place. Atonfack is still being interrogated”.

Before gendarmes were alerted to arrest him, the suspect had phoned his father reporting that he got up and found his siblings dead.

“When he called me I immediately suspected a murder act. So I brought gendarmes along with me. At first, they suspected the children died of food poisoning. A pathologist who was invited, conducted an autopsy and debunked food poisoning, rather revealing strangulation. That’s how he was whisked to the brigade where he confessed”. The man explained to CNA.

Carolin Atonfack and his deceased siblings were living in a house together while their father lived away from them.
