NWRA: President says development projects are promising

The President of the North West Regional Assembly (NWRA), Pr Fru Angwafor III says 40 contracts and jobbing orders awarded in 2023 have been signed and 36 service orders notified.

He made the declaration on Monday, October 16 as he officially opened the 12th ordinary session of the North West Regional Assembly which was aimed at assessing the progress made so far by the region in different projects.

While thanking the population for the resilience and support they rendered in the execution of projects, the President of the North West Regional Assembly called upon every son and daughter from the Region to unite and forge a more productive and unified Region that future generations will be proud of.

The session that was held under the theme “Building, clean, secured, safe and healthy communities”, had in attendance the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, judicial, traditional, religious, and security authorities including members of parliament.

After giving a balance sheet of the Assembly since the last session, Pr Fru Angwafor III revealed that in over thirty months, the Assembly has committed to rebranding and setting the Region on the course an irreversible course towards peace, development, and a total return to normalcy

He also said the region has awarded 40 contracts and signed 36 service orders

“In 2023, the NWRA has awarded, 40 contracts and jobbing orders. As of today, all 40 contracts and jobbing orders have been signed and 36 service orders notified. Among the ongoing projects, we have the rehabilitation and construction of secondary schools, 8 workshops and laboratories, rehabilitation of 6 vocational training institutions, rehabilitation of 11 palaces, the construction, extension, and rehabilitation of 2 mortuaries, maintenance of 3 regional roads and the construction of the NWRA Headquarters ” President of the NWRA said.

Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique on his part, said there has been an increase in attendance rate in both primary and secondary schools. he commended the efforts of the Peace and Development Committees which are gradually convincing youths of the region, he said.

“Information from all locals were dominated with echoes of action carried out by some members of local peace and development committees, which has made many youths of the region embrace the peace and development committees,” said Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique.

The session is expected to end on October 19.
