CAS confirms Samuel Eto’o Fils FECAFOOT President
The Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, has this day seen its long term administrative quarrels terminated by the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS.
Since the election of Samuel Eto’o Fils at the helm of the institution last December 11, 2021, several cases have been filed at the CAS disputing his egitimacy at the helm of the federation. One of them came up after a Spanish court found him guilty of tax fraud.
The victory at CAS comes after Samuel Eto’o Fils met with the general assembly members of the year 2009 and convinced them to withdraw the petition made at CAS calling for the cancellation of the 2021 election.. After the petition was withdrawn through an official letter to CAS, the court has agreed to put an end to legal proceedings.
In reaction, FECAFOOT has in a release signed by its Secretary General Blaise Djounang, this Tuesday August 23rd, thanked the members of the 2009 general assembly who contributed to the verdict announced this day by CAS.
Pundits hope that this decision will open a new chapter of peace in the Cameroon football landscape and hopeefully put an end to all legal battles.
