Cameroon International Film Festival Award Night crowns weeklong activities

The 8th edition of the Cameroon International Film Festival in Buea has come to an end with Award Night presided over by the Governor of the South West Region.

Buea for the 8th time played host to the Cameroon International Film Festival, CAMIFF, the largest gathering of creatives of the seventh art in English speaking Cameroon.

From April 22 to Saturday 27, 2024, international actors, administrative authorities, diplomatic corps and film enthusiasts made it through the weeklong activities.

The closing night dedicated to awards was presided by the Governor of the South West region, Bernard Okalia Bilai in the presence of the Director of Cinema at Ministry of Arts and Culture (MINAC), Prof. Fai Donatus.

Cameroonian legendary actress, Ngongang Elizabeth received a Lifetime Achievement Award. The ace actress’ role in “Half Heaven” – a film nominated for Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award – was commended. She as well played a role in the tv series, “Bad Angel” aired on CRTV.

Godisz Fungwa popularly known as “Richard” was named Best Online Social Media Creator of the year. The category was sponsored by Nigerian actress, producer and youtuber, Ruth Kadiri.

Alex Ekubo, guest and trainer at this years CAMIFF, a Nigerian prominent actor received a Honorary Award. He has been praised on the social media for being a veritable ambassador and promoter of Cameroon culture and CAMIFF.

Half Heaven, a film directed by Johnscott Enah, earned Film of the Year. It has been nominated for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award.

The weeklong film festival featured master classes on documentary film making, screen writing, cinematography, directing, actor and other movie related feilds.

CAMIFF nights had cocktail, mask, all white, cultural and then the awards. The rendez vous is set for next year.
