Cameroon, Chad strengthen security ties

Chad and Cameroon are working to strengthen security measures between both countries after the displacement of about 10 million people across the region.
This was made known during a meeting between Cameroon’s Defense Minister, Joseph Beti Asomo, and his Chadian counterpart, Daoud Yaha Brahim, on October 3, 2023.
“The visit of this important delegation and the deliberations with their Cameroonian counterparts is a gateway to devise new defense strategies and tactics on how to oust their common enemy Boko Haram and counterattack other forms of threats along their borders such as cross-border terrorism, organized crimes, and inter-communal violence,” Ministry Beti Assomo said
Asomo further stated that keeping Cameroon and Chad safe from rebels, terrorists and armed gangs is synonymous with contributing to stability in sub-Saharan Africa.
The two countries are seeking solutions in the fight against Boko Haram, illegal trafficking of weapons and mineral resources, kidnapping for ransoms, cattle theft, and poaching.
The greater West Africa region and the Sahel in particular, have been rocked by terrorism and criminal activity over the last few years.
