West Region: CPDM beneficiaries want another mandate for Paul Biya

Those who have been benefitting from the Biya regime, have started drumming calls for the 90-year-old to succeed himself in the 2025 Presidential elections.

Meanwhile, to travel to their destination in the West region, they braved bad roads to reach the party’s regional head office in Bafoussam.

Bad roads, high crime waves, poverty, and low execution of public investment budgets are the major preoccupations of the masses. Just like other parts of Cameroon, the West region, has suffered a great loss of civilians to bad roads with unending accidents occurring on national roads.

Since 1982 when President Paul Biya came to power, he met national roads already constructed by the former regime. But as time elapsed, there has been an urgent need to expand the roads as the population increases with massive traveling across the country. But this has not been the case- these CPDM beneficiaries who have the power to request for better roads, care less about their people.

CPDM bigwigs who traveled back home could be seen in highly airconditioned SUVs smiling at the venue ground.

41 years ago, President Biya took over power as Head of State in Cameroon and is one of the longest-serving presidents in the world. Despite this, Militants of the ruling CPDM Party in the West Region have called on him to present his candidature for the 2025 presidential elections.

The call was made in a motion of support signed on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the party house in Bafoussam, during a working session that was presided over by the Secretary General of the central committee of the CPDM party, Jean Kuete, who is “son of the soil”

During the meeting, the CPDM scribe while recalling that the West Region which is among the most populated regions of Cameroon, remains one of the main targets of political parties. He also revealed that the region remains at the Heart of the party, calling on the population to remain loyal to the party’s ideals but failed to enumerate the issues affecting the same people they are hoping to vote them during polls.

The CPDM party in the West Region has 40 sections, 4779 subsections, 10 288 branches, and 21, 913 units.
